Management, Spirituality and Religion (MSR)
Junior Faculty and Doctoral Students Consortium
Academy of Management Meeting
Atlanta, August 11-12, 2006
Call for Applications
The Management, Spirituality and Religion (MSR) Interest Group of the
Academy of Management is pleased to announce its first Junior Faculty
and Doctoral Students Consortium that will be held at the forthcoming
meeting in Atlanta.
The goals of the Consortium are to:
_ Expose students and junior faculty to faculty from many
different universities.
_ Provide students and junior faculty time and opportunities to
interact and develop social networks.
_ Expose students and junior faculty to issues/ideas they may not
have had in seminars in their individual programs (e.g., issues of being
a faculty member in a "new" field of study, challenges for building a
field, infusing mainstream work with spiritual/religious threads, etc.)
_ Review publishing challenges in MSR.
_ Explore teaching opportunities and challenges across various
academic contexts.
_ Provide information and opportunity for participants to address
career issues that often fall outside the domain of professional
discussions (e.g., issues that are political, tactical, non-academic,
and so forth - involving areas such as interviewing, maneuvering through
the Academy meetings, balancing professional and non-professional lives,
etc.)
_ Create a means to stay in contact after the consortium in order
to sustain connections between all interested people (i.e., participants
as well as presenters and discussants).
