Ethnicity as a Marker of Perceived Societal Status

    Hi all,

I am interested in studying ethnic group membership (e.g., Asian,
Black, Hispanic, White) as a marker of perceived societal status within
the U.S. I am looking for any research that studies ethnicity as a
continuum, rather than as a group of qualitatively distinct categories.
I have found lots of research that compares a single higher status
ethnic group (e.g., Whites) with a single lower status ethnic group
(e.g., Hispanics). Furthermore, I have found lots of research that
compares three or more ethnic groups by treating each group as a
qualitatively distinct category. I am looking for any research that
indicates that three or more ethnic groups are spread out along a
continuous measure of perceived societal status (or some other
continuous dimension), and that provides scores for each ethnic group
    along the continuum.

    Thanks for your time,
    Lisa
