    Positions

     

    The Department of Management in the <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename> at The University of Texas at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">San Antonio</st1:city></st1:place> seeks applicants for two or three tenure track positions beginning Fall 2009, pending budget approval. Preferred specializations include organization theory and organization behavior. The rank is open for all positions.  Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate, master’s and/or Ph.D. courses. Successful applicants must demonstrate a strong research orientation and ability to teach general management courses as well as courses in the specialty area.

     

    Qualifications for Assistant Professor

     

    §           Required Qualifications:  (1) A.B.D. or Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, (2) a record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions that is consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, (3) the potential to succeed in teaching and professional service activities, (4) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (5) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

     

    §           Preferred Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. from a <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> with AACSB accreditation, and (2) skill, experience, and the desire to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural backgrounds.  

     

    Qualifications for Associate Professor

     

    §           Required Qualifications:  (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline,  (2) a strong and consistent record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions sufficient to merit the rank of Associate Professor in the department, (3) national and/or international recognition in the field of management,                 (4) demonstrated success in teaching and professional service, (5) excellent verbal and written communication skills, and (6) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

     

    §           Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. from a <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> with AACSB accreditation, (2) demonstrated ability to contribute to our doctoral program, and    (3) successful MBA teaching experience.

     


    Qualifications for Full Professor

     

    §            Required Qualifications:  (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline,  (2) a consistent record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions sufficient to merit the rank of Full Professor in the department, (3) national and/or international recognition for contributions to the field of management,                    (4) demonstrated ability to succeed in teaching, (5) demonstrated leadership in professional service, (6) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (7) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

     

    §           Preferred Qualifications:  Ph.D. from a <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> with AACSB accreditation, (2) ability to contribute to our doctoral program, and (3) successful MBA teaching experience.  

     

    Department of Management

     

    The department consists of 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty members from diverse cultural backgrounds, and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in management and human resource management, as well as an MBA concentration in health care management, and undergraduate options in international business and small business /entrepreneurship.  The Ph.D. program is in its seventh year and currently has 11 full-time students.

     

    UTSA

     

    The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas, and ranks second in the nation in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university that serves over 28,000 students on three campuses in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">San Antonio</st1:place></st1:city>. It has the express goal of reaching a Carnegie Classification of doctoral/research extensive (Carnegie I) by 2010. It is located at the edge of the scenic Texas Hill Country and offers the amenities of a major multicultural, metropolitan area.   With a population of over 1.14 million, <st1:city w:st="on">San Antonio</st1:city> is within a few hours drive of <st1:city w:st="on">Dallas</st1:city>, <st1:city w:st="on">Houston</st1:city>, the <st1:place w:st="on">Gulf of Mexico</st1:place>, and the Mexican border.

    Salary and supporting start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.  UTSA offers an attractive package of benefits including medical and dental coverage plus a choice of participation in the Teacher Retirement System or an Optional Retirement System.
