    Hi all,
Here is something a little different that some of your students might be interested in - a summer program on women in India.
    Pass it on,

Development and Human Rights Institute (DHRI) is a body that aims at
providing participants with insight into developmental and human rights
issues in India. This programme provides university students, who are
committed to contributing to development and have the aptitude to do so,
with a rare opportunity to experience ground-level development processes
first hand. Additionally, it will enable students to experience
professional, cultural and academic opportunities within India, through our
Summer School and Internship programme, 2007.

The goal is to create support and solidarity for issues in India as well
as encourage friendships and partnerships among young activists across
borders. It is an  avenue for students to gain field experience to further
their own professional development as well as help strengthen human rights
    organizations in India.

DHRI is unique in the sense that it is a summer school of two weeks,
followed by internship for six weeks. This way we try to amalgamate
theoretical understanding with practical field knowledge/ experience. The
programme is based on the experience of human rights work in India as well
as insights from volunteer interns from the universities of the North.
Summer school provides the much needed intellectual insights into the
historical and current situation in India and it's global links, while field
work offers opportunity  to live in the situations where  struggles and
change are taking place, right now, and contribute to it.

Gender is a vital theme in the institute. It is woven into the discourse of
development and human rights that we wish to present to our participants, in
order to encourage a gendered world view. So while a separate session
for gender is provided, no other topic be it caste, communalism, education
or health is complete without discussion about situation/ status of women
    related to the issue.
