The conference theme, The Questions We Ask" is relevant to the current position of research regarding the existence of multi-generational cohorts in the workplace. Management scholars and practitioners are questioning the parameters and true nature of the positive and negative influences of a perceived "generational divide". The large proportion of baby boomers that will remain in the work force and the influx of Gen X, Gen Y, and Millennials will require the integration of groups of employees who differ significantly in terms of values and beliefs about work and the role that work plays in their lives. Differences in employee motivational processes, temporal and spatial orientations and attitude require meaningful and focused inquiry. This Symposium offers qualitative and quantitative discussions that will inform management practice.
