APPOINTMENT: Position available May 1, 2009. Start date negotiable
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: : Master's Degree, a minimum of three years of experience in equal opportunity, affirmative action, civil rights compliance or similar post-baccalaureate professional experience. Proven success as a collaborative and effective leader. Professional involvement in programs and activities targeted toward achieving diversity goals. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Presentation experience and demonstrated experience working successfully with individuals throughout a complex organizational structure toward consensus and support for innovative plans and solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience conducting complaint investigations and performing data analysis. Professional work experience in higher education preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access reports to the President and is responsible for coordinating the University's overall affirmative action/equal opportunity program. The director is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of the University's policies and procedures relative to equal opportunity and affirmative action. The director also serves as the university Title IX and ADA Compliance Officer. This responsibility is defined by applicable federal, state, and university guidelines for civil rights compliance, including Executive Order 11246; Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1990; Title IX of the 1972 Higher Education Amendments; Section 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Acts of 1975 and 1967, respectively; the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; and the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. THE DEPARTMENT: The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA) reports to the President and has responsibility for university compliance with civil rights laws, statutes and regulations. EOA coordinates the work of the University Diversity Council, the ADA Advisory Committee, the Web Accessibility Committee, and the Affirmative Action Administrative Internship Committee. The office works with departments in the recruitment and selection of faculty and administrative staff, administers the University's Discrimination Complaint Procedures, designs accommodations for employees, conducts training, and serves as a campus resource on issues of inclusion.
