  • 1.  Diversity Awareness Scale

    Posted 10-10-2008 21:21

Hello!  My colleague is looking for a scale that measures "diversity awareness", and I was hoping that some of the GDO members could point her in a good direction.  She wants to distribute this measure in an academic setting to obtain a benchmark of diversity awareness (on campus) at the beginning of an important university-wide initiative.

    Thanks in advance!

    Susan

    Dear Susan,

We've developed a questionnaire measuring diversity beliefs/attitudes. I hope this is useful for you:

Diversity is an asset for teams

I believe that diversity is good

I enjoy working with diverse people

    I feel enthusiastic about diversity

    Reference:

Homan, A. C., Greer, L. L., & Jehn, E. (2008). The beneficial effects of diversity beliefs in faultline teams: The role of subgroup perceptions. Presented at the 2008 conference of the European Association of Experimental and Social Psychology (EAESP), Opatija, Croatia.

    Kind regards.

  • 3.  Diversity Awareness Scale

    Posted 10-16-2008 12:36

Our campus has just launched a climate survey addressed to faculty, staff and students.  It covers a broad range of issues.  I tried to send a list of all the items, but it exceeded the allowable size for this listserv, so if you would like a list of the items, please contact me.  Also, I assessed awareness and appreciation for diversity in our intercollegiate athletics department a few years ago, and modified a scale developed by Donna Chrobot-Mason and Alison Konrad. We presented the results at SIOP.  If you'd like a copy of the paper we presented (which includes the items), please send me a note.
