The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sydney has an outstanding international reputation for high quality research. Many of its staff are distinguished and internationally renowned scholars in their own fields. The Faculty comprises 220 academic staff located across the following disciplines and research centres: Accounting, Business Information Systems, Business Law, Economics, Finance, Graduate School of Government, Centre for International Security Studies, International Business, Marketing, Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies, Operations Management and Econometrics, Work and Organisational Studies and the Workplace Research Centre.
The faculty is committed to ensuring that it is further distinguished for its research scholarship and has put in place a range of initiatives designed to enhance its disciplinary and cross disciplinary research activities. As part of this strategy, two postdoctoral research fellowships, fully funded by the Faculty have been made available. The Fellowships are open to applicants wishing to pursue a program of full-time research in any discipline or centre within the Faculty. Cross disciplinary applications will also be welcome. The positions offer an excellent opportunity to conduct research within a world class, supportive and well resourced research environment.
You must have a PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to the faculty and will have an outstanding research track record relative to opportunity. You must have proven research ability, demonstrate the potential for further development and exhibit an ability to work cooperatively with others. As part of your application you will need to submit a project proposal in which you outline a high quality program of research that you wish to develop during the fellowship. Good organisational skills, the ability to prepare research outputs for communication purposes and excellent oral and written communication skills will also be essential.
The positions are full-time, fixed term for two years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. The successful applicants will be expected to be based full-time in the Faculty for the duration of the Fellowship. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees. Remuneration package : A competitive remuneration package is available (consisting of a base salary $78,000 [as at July 2010], leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation).
