  • 1.  Query: Examples of association help with infusing diversity in curriculum

    Posted 01-26-2009 13:02
    Greetings colleagues,

In a few weeks, I will be giving a talk about steps that have been taken by various professional associations (ideally business-related) in addressing the role of diversity in the curriculum. I am somewhat familiar with the steps taken by AOM, SIOP, APA and APS, but not with other associations. If you know of another professional association that has gotten involved in helping its members infuse diversity into the higher education curriculum, I would be very grateful if you would provide me with a link to a relevant web page or whatever other information you think would help me learn about it.

    Many thanks.

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David:

The American Economic Association has two committees that have been involved in such efforts, with support from NSF, several universities, and foundations (e.g. the Pipeline Program):

    1)                  The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (see http://www.cswep.org/), CSWEP

    2)                  The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (see http://www.vanderbilt.edu/AEA/CSMGEP/index.html), CSMGEP

    Best regards,

    Don

    Hi David,

The American Association of Colleges and Universities might be interesting, though it is a different type of association that the ones you mention below. Here is the website url:
