Colleagues,
I returned home to discover the MBA program is interested in trying again to schedule and MBA elective on managing diversity. We've tried in the past, but haven't gotten enough students. Because our enrollments have grown, they're thinking about trying again. Due to the timing, I failed to explore the following questions at our meeting. (It was great seeing you all.) I would be very grateful for any advice regarding the following.
What should I name the course? "Managing diversity" has not been wildly successful. I vaguely recall someone suggesting something like "Managing the contemporary workforce: Global and diversity considerations." Do you have a title you have found to be compelling that would be appropriate for a diversity course?
What texts would you recommend? I know a couple diversity texts with international flavors have recently been published, but I've ignored them because they were not appropriate for my undergraduate class. (Missed my chance to request instructor copies at the meeting.) Assuming I teach an MBA class with some attention to globalization (e.g., a week on expatriates), what text might I use?
And of course I'd welcome sample syllabi.
FYI, I plan to send my undergraduate syllabus to our webmaster for posting as soon as I have finalized it. It would be great if we could expand the resources available on the GDO website.
Thanks to all.
Best,
David
