Call for Submissions - Southwest Academy of Management

    Posted 09-17-2009 22:21
    Dear GDO Colleagues:

I recently wrote to you to ask for submissions to the Human Resources track of the Southwest Academy of Management, promising that your submission on gender and diversity would be included into the HR track for this conference.  I will keep that promise, and I'm hoping for lots of submissions on gender and diversity.  The deadline for submissions is October 3, although you must be registered on the electronic conference management site as an author by October 1 (coming up quickly!).  The Call for Papers is copied below, for your convenience.

The conference will be held in Dallas, Texas from March 2 to March 6, 2010.  Since the time I sent the first message, I have learned that Dallas has been identified as one of the "10 Most Entertaining Cities in the U.S."  While I'm not sure that there is much that is more entertaining than an academic conference, adding in one of the most entertaining cities in the U.S certainly sounds attractive!  Here is what Dallas has to offer:

    Restaurants:  8,539
    Bars:  455
    Nightclubs:  224
    Museums:  82
    Live Theater Venues:  85
    Sports Venues:  38
    Sports Teams:  4

Forbes' Best Cities For The Outdoors Ranking:  No. 17

You might want to pick and choose among the various venues, as I doubt that anyone would have time to visit ALL of these sites.  But taking in a select few in the company of your favorite colleagues would be a great way to liven up your Spring semester.  So please get to work on those papers.  I look forward to seeing your submissions and to seeing you in Dallas in March!  --  Gayle
