    Dear colleagues,

The following is a summary of resources which colleagues suggested to me in response to my request for help in designing a master's level course in diversity management. I am deeply indebted to all those who helped me in this matter.

    ....

Myrtle <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Bell</st1:place></st1:city>'s book is an excellent generic resource for masters level study. Konrad and Pringle's edited text and Özbilgin' edited volume Equality, Diversity and Inclusion could also be useful reference/further reading.

    ......

you could consider a session on Subtle Biases and Covert Prejudice in the workplace. Turns out that blatant forms of biases have decreased these days and it is the subtle biases that lead to exclusion of minorities in the workplace. This exclusion is a significant barrier to diversity.

Attached is a teaching note (SubtleBiasesNoteJoergLeah.pdf) developed at my school which you could have as a reading (you can buy it from Ivey Publishing for your students). A case from HBR works well with this note. The reference for that case is: The case of the unequal opportunity, Harvard Business Review, July-August 1991 (pp. 4-8) (HBS Product# 91406).

we find that the concept of polarity management is enormously helpful in approaching the tensions organizations, teams, and individuals experience when moving toward diversity and inclusion.  The first link below is to Polarity Management Associates, the home of Barry Johnson, the originator of the polarity management concept.  The second link is to some of the articles that directly address diversity and the third is to a short paper that outlines the thinking behind the polarities of commonality and difference.

I would recommend the following book which has currently been adopted by several universities around the world:

    Wibbeke, E. (2009). Global Busienss Leadership. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Oxford</st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">UK</st1:country-region></st1:place>: Elsevier.

I also recommend the work being done by the Rose Leadership Institute.

The emphasis is on the influence of national culture on the leadership decision-making process.
