ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR

The Department of Human Resource Management is looking for a highly qualified individual with an international research reputation to strengthen its teaching and research profile. Areas of teaching and research specialisation include Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. Teaching duties may include but are not limited to Employee Health and Safety and Ethics. The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management;
- Supervising postgraduate students;
- Curriculum development;
- Scientific research publication in especially ISI and IBSS journals;
- Establishing research alliances and international partnering;
- Initiating and co-ordinating research projects;
- Preparing and submitting proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and accreditation purposes;
- Mentoring and coaching junior and senior academic staff;
- Actively participating in the Department's community programmes (short courses and consultations);
- Being involved in professional activities where applicable;
- Performing administrative duties as delegated by the Head of Department;
- Liaising with stakeholders;
- Establishing an independent research project that is able to attract independent national and international research funding.

At both Associate Professor and Professor levels:
- A doctorate in Human Resource Management, Industrial and Organisational Psychology or a similar field;
- A research standing with a sustained record of quality publications in peer-reviewed journals or other equivalent outputs that are considered to be a body of coherent quality work that attest to an on-going engagement in an area of specialization;
- A proven record of publishing in accredited journals;
- Lecturing experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- A record of successful supervision of students at master's and doctoral levels;
- Experience in high-level liaising with internal and external stakeholders and professional boards;
- An established national and international profile and network.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- South African National Research Foundation rating;
- Publications in ISI and IBSS journals with high impact factors;
- Leadership roles in professional activities.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
