Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to the caucus, "Inclusion in Organizations" at the upcoming AoM conference in Montreal:
Tuesday, Aug 10 2010, 1:15PM - 2:45PM at Le Palais Des Congres in 521A
A great deal of research has focused on work force diversity, but management scholars have only recently begun to focus on the concept of inclusion in organizations. Scholars have defined inclusion in numerous ways, including as: "the extent to which employees believe their organizations engage in efforts to involve all employees in the mission and operation of the organization with respect to their individual talents" (Avery, McKay, Wilson, &Volpone, 2008:6), "the removal of obstacles to the full participation and contribution of employees in organizations" (Roberson, 2006: 217), and "the degree to which an employee is accepted and treated as an insider by others in a work system" (Pelled, Ledford, & Mohrman, 1999: 1014). As these varied definitions illustrate, consensus has not been reached on the nature of inclusion or its theoretical underpinnings despite the growing attention paid to the concept in recent years. In this caucus, we want to convene a community of scholars interested in the concept of inclusion to discuss research on the topic and discuss ways to advance this literature.
We hope you can join us and participate in this discussion!
Best regards,
Amy Randel and Beth Chung
