    Dear Colleagues, and friends,
Our 9th MSR Retreat after the AOM meetings will take place Tuesday evening through Friday noon, August 16-19, 2011 at a secluded site, the Oblate Renewal Center, an air-conditioned oasis about fifteen miles from downtown San Antonio-beautiful surroundings of trees, lawns and quiet buildings in a peaceful atmosphere. The spacious dining room with its bay windows frames the beautiful tree-studded campus and the grand foyer entrance enhances the sense of connectedness to the natural surroundings.  And for a plus – a swimming pool.

In 2002 at our business meeting in Denver there was a strong consensus that our work in matters of Spirit requires deepening of the spiritual journey. Further, there was a common discernment that efforts in this sensitive area would be enhanced by a shared retreat where the deepening of spirit was called forth.   We've had a Management and Spirituality Retreat after the AOM (Academy of Management) annual meeting each year since.

THIS year in 2011 we invite you and your friends, spouses, colleagues to join in for our 9th Retreat in San Antonio, TX.  (MSR membership not required).
Each Retreat has been different and ecumenical -- spiritual practices from a variety of spiritual and psychological traditions and religions depending on the interests and practices of participants. We've offered a mixture of silence and discussion and addressed issues of both deep personal spiritual importance to participants and methods of teaching and studying management from an MSR  (Management, Spirituality and Religion Group of AOM) perspective. Friendships have been newly formed (no marriages or partnerships yet as far as we know!), some old acquaintances deepened, and new teaching, research and personal practices introduced.  It's been a time of deep relaxation and joy after the annual AOM meetings.

Because accommodations require reservations and payment, we are asking that you determine early if this spirit-filled, rest and practice opportunity is something you would like to share.  Full cost for 3 nights lodging, space for retreat activities and dining and 3 meals a day, will run $230 US / person.  This is an official activity of MSR potentially eligible as a reimbursable expense from your institutions or, if not reimbursed, may be potentially deductible for those who itemize taxes. We need reservations and full payment by check or credit card of the $230 cost by March 30 in order to inform the retreat site, Oblate Renewal Center.  Cancellations by June 1 will receive a full refund less a $15 administrative fee.

For more information and to reserve a space contact us at LeeRobbins@post.Harvard.edu or simply send the Registration Form following (see our friendly refund policy below should you need to cancel after registering) to the address listed.  Because of the limited space, people will be registered for the Retreat on a "first come, first served" basis upon receipt and payment.
We hope you will carefully consider this opportunity to be with colleagues from the MSR interest group as well as other interested friends in a surrounding of natural beauty to share a spirit filled three days in support of our important work on behalf of management education.
    Sincerely,
Jerry Biberman, Retreat Coordinator, Former MSR Chair; Dept. Of Management, School of Business, University of Scranton.
Richard Peregoy, Retreat Coordinator, Member MSR Executive Committee; Dept. of Management, University of Dallas.
Lee Robbins, Retreat Coordinator, Member MSR Executive Committee, former MSR Chair; Dept. of Management, School of Business, Golden Gate University.
