Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to the Africa Academy of Management Caucus.
West Meets East Through the Africa Bridge: Enlightening, Balancing, and Transcending Africa Bridge
In this caucus, Africa Academy of Management (AFAM) will facilitate a session that will engage scholars of, and those interested in, Africa Management and Organization research, in discussing strategic initiatives that will highlight how Africa can function as a bridge between the West and East. The scholars will discuss opportunities and challenges of the role of Africa and how management and organization research can contribute to that objective. This objective is consistent with Academy of Management’s theme, “West Meets East: Enlightening, Balancing, and Transcending.” Management research has contributed to the growth of the West and East. How management research can contribute to the growth of Africa therefore seems significant. As has been observed by scholars of Africa, if Africa countries can achieve their objective of transitioning from underdevelopment to emerging markets, scholarly groups such as AFAM are indispensable. The caucus will discuss strategic initiatives for facilitate management research growth. The second significant reason is that our strategic initiatives are in line with the internationalization strategic objective of the Academy of Management.
