Call for papers (sort of!) for SWAM

    Dear GDO Colleagues:

Would you like to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras?  Well, I can't promise you that, but how about New Orleans right AFTER Mardi Gras?  It's almost as good, because that's where and when the Southwest Academy of Management will be meeting in 2012!

I've attached the Call for Papers for the Southwest Academy of Management to this message--deadline of September 16, 2011.  But here's an even better offer!  Do you have a paper that you are working on, but you just don't know anyone from which to get feedback? Do you find that your departmental colleagues really can't provide much feedback to you?  Do you want to have someone that you don't know well (and don't have to look at every day!) read your paper and offer suggestions?  SUCH A DEAL I HAVE FOR YOU!

Please submit your "paper" (and by that term, I mean "work in progress"--you need not have a whole paper ready yet) to the Developmental Track of the Southwest Academy of Management.  In keeping with our slogan of "Crafting the Whole Professor," the Southwest Academy of Management  (SWAM) offers a Developmental Track for academic papers.  You submit your paper to the Developmental Track and I (as the Track Chair) find a "match" for you with a more senior (and more published) faculty member who can provide feedback to you on the paper.  The feedback sessions are one-on-one, so you don't have to worry about presenting a "rough" paper in public.

You can submit your paper electronically (the web address is included in the attached Call for Papers).  If you have questions, please feel free to contact me (Gayle Baugh, gbaugh@uwf.edu) or the Program Chair (Steve Horner, shorner@astate.edu) for more information.  But I really want your "work in progress," especially if you would like someone to talk with you one-on-one about the potential for your paper.

Thanks very much for your attention, and please think about joining us in New Orleans in early March.  And if you're inspired instead to sign up as a reviewer (we are ALWAYS happy to have more reviewers) or to submit your paper to a different track, that's fine, too!  The same website will work for those purposes, too.  Thanks very much for your attention.  --  Gayle
