PDW @ AOM: STEPPING OUT WITH THE INDIAN ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT
Program Session #: 156 | Submission: 13964 | Sponsor(s): (INDAM, IM)
Scheduled: Friday, Aug 9 2013 4:30PM - 7:00PM at Offsite in Walt Disney
World Dolphin Resort
Hello everyone,
Do you already do or are interested in research on Indian management
issues? Do you teach Indian management students or India related topics? If
you answered yes to any of these questions, this PDW will provide an
informal setting for you to meet other scholars interested in
research/teaching in/on India. Everyone (faculty/student, Indian/non-
Indian) is welcome.
ABSTRACT: Using a unique format, this PDW aims to foster collaborations and
mutual learning among scholars interested in India-related management
research and teaching, thereby expanding the community and reach of members
interested in Indian management issues. The PDW will take place as a
walking tour in the Disney Epcot area (where the conference resorts are).
Participants will be organized in small groups where a facilitator will
lead discussions on various India-related research/teaching questions and
issues along the walking tour. The PDW has seven facilitators to guide the
participants in this process. Groups will exchange members at various
designated spots along the walk to maximize exposure and breadth of
discussions. The PDW will end with a drinks/dinner session (at
participants’ own expense). Facilitators may summarize some of the key
points and issues raised in the various small group discussions.
FACILITATORS: Stacy Blake-Beard (Simmons College); Rajashi Ghosh (Drexel
U.); C Lakshman (Bordeaux École de Management); Sushil Nifadkar (Georgia
State U.); Charmi Patel (U. of Edinburgh Business School); Aarti Ramaswami
(ESSEC Business School); Vasanthi Srinivasan (IIM-Bangalore).
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
• We will convene at the Reception desk of Walt Disney World
Dolphin Resort. Wear comfortable shoes.
• Each participant will be given a handout with the map of walking
route and “exchange stations.” Resources on research/teaching on Indian
management issues may also be shared.
• To Register: Please send an email to Aarti Ramaswami
(
ramaswami@essec.edu) ideally before June 30th with the following
information:
1. Your full contact information
2. Two India-related research or teaching questions or other issues
you would like to discuss with participants
3. You may also choose a facilitator listed above for your initial
mini walking group (although groups will change periodically throughout the
walk). Please note that we may or may not be able to accommodate your
request.
Hope to step out with you!
Best,
Aarti Ramaswami
