    • Sandy Hershcovis, University of Manitoba
    • Sandy Lim, National University of Singapore

We invite you to register for the Incivility Research Incubator on Friday, August 9 from 12:45 – 3:45pm at the WDW Dolphin Resort in Europe 2.  Students and faculty conducting or contemplating research on workplace incivility and closely related topics are welcome to register.

In this workshop, we convene researchers who are passionate about fueling workplace incivility research. This session will foster conversations that advance workplace incivility scholarship, addressing promising research topics such as incivility's underlying mechanisms and its multi-faceted nature (i.e., target, observer, and perpetrator perspectives). Topics to be discussed include: mediators and moderators of incivility's relationship with outcomes, incivility as it is disproportionately targeted at women and minority groups (i.e., selective incivility), research on perpetrators of incivility, and key methodologies for conducting incivility research.  Further, we will identify questions that, if pursued, will help attendees address gaps within this research domain.

The three-hour workshop will feature perspectives from experts in incivility research and roundtable discussions with these experts followed by a larger workshop-wide discussion.  Participants will be able to discuss their research ideas and current projects with fellow scholars and field experts to receive feedback and strategies for publication.

To register, please email the following information to both Shanna Daniels (srdaniels@fsu.edu) and Lisa Marchiondo (lisa.marchiondo@wayne.edu) with the subject line "Incivility Research Incubator":

    • Research interests
    • Current or proposed research project (background, hypotheses)
    • Current or proposed methodology
    • If available, preliminary results
    • Questions and discussion points you would like the facilitators to address

The proposal should not exceed 4 pages.

Once we receive and approve your proposal, we will send you the registration code, which you can use to officially register at the AOM PDW website. This session has limited availability, so registration will occur on a first-come first-served basis.

We look forward to seeing you there!
