    Arkansas State University

     

    Arkansas State University (A-State) invites nominations and applications for College of Business (http://www.astate.edu/business) dean. The college of business is accredited by the AACSB, and its online MBA program was ranked #11 for graduate business programs in the country and #1 in faculty credentials and training by the US News & World Report. The college is comprised of four departments, centers for transportation and student services, and the International Business Resource Center (IBRC).  The College of Business also conducts outreach through the Delta Center for Economic Development and the Small Business and Technology Development Center.

     

    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Provost, the Dean will have overall responsibility for delineating the college's strategic priorities; recruiting and maintaining a faculty of excellence; providing strategic guidance to its portfolio of degree programs; improving enrollment and graduation rates; developing productive community partnerships; strengthening relationships with alumni and donors; and expanding externally funded research.  The new Dean will lead a dynamic and innovative academic culture by being a champion of the college as a community of teachers and scholars. The successful candidate will have the vision, talent, and the drive to create an environment for faculty, students, staff, and alumni to make a significant impact in business and society. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

     

    Qualifications: Candidates should have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in a business or related discipline; a record of scholarly and professional achievements significantly strong to qualify for rank and tenure in one of the college's departments. Individuals without a terminal degree with successful executive-level experience in complex organizations outside of academia and a commitment to support the highest academic standards and values are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have significant administrative experience with demonstrated budgetary and strong leadership skills; a strong commitment to teaching excellence; communication skills necessary to promote the college's mission both internally and externally; and an ability to form strong partnerships with alumni, regional businesses, and the community. Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collegial environment through a collaborative leadership style; the ability to provide leadership in advancing the goals of the college and university; experience in and commitment to fundraising, a strong commitment to diversity and shared governance, and evidence of being a thought leader in his or her field.
