The Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology is pleased to announce a special issue on Naturalistic Decision Making, edited by Julie Gore (University of Surrey), Rhona Flin (University of Aberdeen), Neville Stanton (University of Southampton), and William Wong (University of Middlesex).

Naturalistic decision making (NDM) is a thriving area of psychology that focuses upon how professionals use their cognitive expertise to perform complex tasks within organisations. Methodological advances in accessing expertise have gained respect and validity with the professionals participating in this pragmatic area of research inquiry and researchers have become more proficient about documenting their often, qualitative tools and techniques for knowledge elicitation and representation. Papers will be considered which make a clear contribution to advancing research and theory on the diverse applications of NDM in organisations.  The special issue aims to showcase exemplary work in this domain with the objective of encouraging other occupational and organisational psychologists to investigate this area as an alternative or complementary avenue of cognitive inquiry.
