Dear Colleagues,
Women and Gender Studies at George Mason University is excited to announce a conference that will take place on May 3rd at our Arlington, VA campus. The conference is titled: Politics of Gender & Justice: The Intersection of Identity & Disciplines. We have invited colleagues working in equality, social justice and diversity fields, non profit organizations, professors, artists, activists, undergraduate and graduate students to present their work and works in progress to undergraduates and graduate students from neighboring regional universities and community members in the area. We welcome all of you to attend, and are extending invitations for calls for papers/presentations/projects/roundtables/art installations/short films, etc. Attached is the conference flyer. Anyone can submit a proposal from now until March 15th at gmuwmst@gmail.com. We also ask that you share this flyer/information with any other interested parties you feel would benefit from attendance or presentation. This conference aims to shed light on the effects/challenges/freedom/expression of various disciplines and how they intersect or challenge inclusion in regards to the umbrella of feminist concepts. We hope that this conference will show how all encompassing the term feminism is and allow people of different disciplines to have the space to understand other perspectives. We also hope to foster more conversation with people from different walks of life to further discuss the "what now's" and "how's" of equality so that we can move closer to equitable treatment and just environments through collaborative means- no matter the mediums we respectively choose. We only require an abstract.
We look forwards to discussing how the umbrella of feminist concepts affect different spaces and academic/artistic fields. In other words, this conference is for everyone and all are welcome!
