Position in Strategic Management – (Advanced) Assistant
Professor, School of Business, UWB
The School of Business, University of Washington Bothell, invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an
(advanced) Assistant Professor in Strategic Management. The
appointment will begin in September 2015. This would be a 9-month
and multi-year appointment.
A doctorate in Strategic Management (or a closely related field)
completed before 2012 is preferred. We are especially interested
in candidates with a strong research record and several years of
teaching experience. The successful candidate should have an
active research program with publications and a strong pipeline
demonstrating the potential for continued publication in leading
academic journals. The candidate will teach both MBA and
undergraduate courses and should have a record of accomplishment
in MBA teaching.
Our Management and Organizations faculty are active scholars
whose work has been published in leading journals such as the
Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review,
American Journal of Sociology, Strategic Management Journal,
Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science,
Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel
Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, and other leading outlets.
The UW Bothell School of Business is accredited by AACSB and is
deeply committed to the success of its faculty in both research
and teaching. As part of the University of Washington, faculty
and students have full access to the computing and library
resources of the University of Washington system, including
financial databases such as Compustat, CRSP, and IBES via WRDS.
The culture is collegial and faculty members interact regularly
with colleagues from other business disciplines.
We are located 15 miles northeast of downtown Seattle in the
center of the Pacific Northwest’s exciting high-technology
corridor (between Microsoft and Boeing). We work closely with
industry leaders as well as the smaller, innovative, and rapidly
growing companies in software, electronic commerce, medical
equipment, biotechnology, and aerospace.
More than a decade ago, UW Bothell became the first school in the
Puget Sound region to offer an MBA program focused on technology
management. Currently we offer a Technology MBA in Bothell and a
Leadership MBA in Bellevue. Our MBA students work in companies
such as Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Expedia, ICOS, Amgen and
Philips.
The University of Washington Bothell was established in 1990 as
an upper-division and graduate campus. Freshmen were admitted for
the first time in 2006. Today there are over 4,600 undergraduate
and graduate students enrolled. We have a new, expanding, state
of the art high-tech campus. Money recently ranked UW Bothell as
#37 in the U.S., and #1 in the State of Washington, in its “best
colleges” list for value (based on quality of education,
affordability, and outcomes).
