INDUSTRIAL/ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY FACULTY
2 Positions at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR RANK
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY, PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY
PORTLAND, OREGON
The Department of Psychology at Portland State University has two, tenure-track assistant professor positions in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a September, 2016 start date. The department has a strong applied research orientation and a doctoral program in Applied Psychology with specializations in Industrial/Organizational, Applied Developmental, and Applied Social & Community psychology.
Qualifications include a doctoral degree in I/O psychology or a related area. ABDs will be considered but must be awarded their degrees by September 15, 2016. Although the areas of specialization are open, we are particularly interested in candidates who would add to our minor in Occupational Health Psychology, as well as to areas of Industrial and Organizational Psychology that would complement the current I/O faculty. Applicant research areas might include, but are not limited to, social inequalities at work, diversity management, discrimination at work, selection, training, teams, or leadership. Candidates appropriate for this position will have an established research and publication record in I/O psychology or evidence of the potential to develop such a research and publication record. The successful candidate will be able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in I/O psychology as well as courses related to the applicant's particular area of expertise. Responsibilities include maintaining a productive program of community-based research; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in I/O and other core departmental courses; supervising student theses and dissertations; and contributing in service to the department, university and profession. We specifically encourage applicants with a research focus on diversity issues in the workplace, to add to our growing departmental focus on human diversity and social justice. For example, we welcome candidates whose research, teaching, and outreach address the role of cultural, racial/ethnic, socioeconomic, or gender identities and contexts; processes of discrimination, bias, or stereotyping; and interventions, policies, and strategies to advance social justice. Overall, we seek applicants whose research, teaching, outreach, and service will contribute to the department's diversity focus, while integrating with and complementing existing Department strengths.
Portland State University values diversity and demonstrates this throughout its campus initiatives; we particularly encourage members of historically underrepresented groups to apply. The Psychology Department maintains a supportive climate of cooperation, collaboration, and collegiality. To learn more about our department, please see http://www.pdx.edu/psy/.
