The IM Division FIU Business Emerging Scholar Award recognizes the contribution to international management scholarship by a junior scholar, defined by having completed their Ph.D. (or equivalent) within the previous eight years, at the time of nomination. The award is selected by the division's Professional Awards Committee, chaired by the Past Division Chair and consisting of the three past chairs and two recent winners of the IM Division Hyundai Motor Eminent Scholar Award. This year, the committee was comprised of Nandini Lahiri (Chair, 2025 IM Division Past Chair), Julian Birkinshaw (2025 Eminent Scholar), Yadong Luo (2024 Eminent Scholar), Grazia Santangelo (2024 IM Division Past Chair) and William Newburry (2023 IM Division Past Chair). The IM Division thanks them for their fantastic efforts overseeing our division's professional awards selection process. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Andrews of Georgia State University has been selected as the 2026 IM Division FIU Business Emerging Scholar! Please join us at the International Management Division Awards & Recognition Session during the 2026 AOM Meeting tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 3, where Dr. Andrews will be recognized. More details will be provided closer to the conference dates.
Daniel S. Andrews is an Assistant Professor at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University. He received his PhD from Florida International University in 2021. His research focuses on global strategy and the interplay between how firms are influenced by and actively influence their institutional and competitive environments. He often adopts an interdisciplinary approach, and his 25 articles appear in outlets such as the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of World Business, and Journal of Management Studies. His scholarly work has resulted in several awards, including being both a winner and a two-time nominee for the Alan M. Rugman Junior Scholar Award from the Academy of International Business (AIB), as well as multiple best paper awards and nominations at the Strategic Management Society and European International Business Academy annual conferences. Daniel currently serves as the Reviewing Editor for the Journal of World Business and as a member of several editorial boards. He organizes the JIBS Paper Development Workshop at AIB annually.
