Workshop: International Business and Geopolitics: Innovation and Technology in a Fragmented World
Copenhagen Business School, December 4–5, 2025

The Department of International Economics, Government and Business invites submissions for the workshop "International Business and Geopolitics: Innovation and Technology in a Fragmented World," hosted at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) on December 4–5, 2025.

Geopolitical rivalry and rising techno-nationalism are reshaping the global business environment. For multinational enterprises (MNEs), critical technologies, including semiconductors, 5G and 6G networks, cloud computing, biotechnology, and other advanced technologies, are increasingly regarded as strategic assets, essential not only for economic competitiveness but also for national security and geopolitical influence. This workshop will examine how these dynamics shape international business, corporate strategy, and policymaking.

    Workshop Format

The program will combine academic and practitioner perspectives and will include:

    • Opening Panel: Leading scholars discussing the intersection of IB and geopolitics.
    • Business Panel: CEOs and policymakers sharing insights on challenges faced by high-technology companies in a fragmented world.
    • Paper Presentations: Interactive sessions where participants present and receive feedback on their work.

    Submissions

We welcome both theoretical and empirical papers. Participants may submit one of the following:

    • Research Ideas: Maximum of 4 pages (up to 1,000 words). Three pages for the proposal, plus one page for references, diagrams, charts, or tables. The 1,000-word limit includes all content.
    • Full Papers: Working papers of up to 10,000 words (including references and appendices). Papers must include an abstract of no more than 200 words at the beginning. Use 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced. All tables, figures, and appendices should be placed after the references.

    Submission Deadline: October 15, 2025
