The IM Division AmorePacific Outstanding Educator Award recognizes continuous excellence and innovation in teaching international management, at all levels and in a global context. The award is selected by the division's Professional Awards Committee, chaired by the Past Division Chair and consisting of the three past chairs and two recent winners of the IM Division Hyundai Motor Eminent Scholar Award. Nominations for this award are solicited from the IM Division Membership each year in the spring. This year the committee was comprised of William Newburry (Chair, 2023 IM Division Chair), Tatiana Kostova (2023 Eminent Scholar), Don Lessard (2022 Eminent Scholar), Katherine Xin (2022 IM Division Chair) and Jaeyong Song (2021 IM Division Chair). The IM Division thanks them for their fantastic efforts overseeing our division's professional awards selection process. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Nakiye Boyacigiller of Sabanci University has been selected as the 2024 IM Division AmorePacific Outstanding Educator! Please join us at the International Management Division Awards & Recognition Session during the 2024 AOM Meeting tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 7 where Dr. Boyacigiller will be recognized. More details will be provided closer to the conference dates.
In 2018, Boyacigiller was appointed as an Emeritus professor by Sabanci University and retired later that year. Boyacigiller was a Professor of International Management and a former Dean of the Sabanci School of Business at Sabanci University. She was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) in 2007. Prior to joining Sabanci as dean, she was on the faculty of San Jose State University for 17 years.
Dr. Boyacigiller has held leadership positions in several professional and academic organizations including most importantly her roles as President of the AIB (2015-16) and Chair of the International Management Division of the Academy of Management in (1996-97). She has served the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) as a member of its Board of Directors and European Advisory Council (2012-2014). In addition, Prof. Boyacigiller has served on the advisory boards of WU (Vienna University of Economics and Management), CIIM, the Cyprus International Institute of Management and GIBS of the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She served two terms on the board of Turkish Philanthropy Funds and continues to support their work.
She is the proud mother of two daughters and is blessed with two granddaughters.
