    Abstract

Increasingly, academic discussion highlights the importance of impactful research, yet when it comes to ‘how’ to achieve impact there is far less literature to draw from. Creating impact, like any component of academic work, needs to be learned. Specifically, early career researchers (ECRs) are in need of tangible means to craft research with impact on both theory and society in mind. This session aims to share and discover skills, mindsets, and techniques that will help ECRs increase their impact. Specifically, this PDW addresses three key topics, (1) the current standing of early career research impact; (2) insights in how to generate impactful research; and (3) the means and tools for ECRs to learn impactful research. After a brief introduction from impactful scholars, our discussion will aim to address the most pertinent challenges to early career impact and provide tangible guidance on navigating them.
