Dear colleagues,
Welcome to this year's Professional Development Workshop on Geopolitics in Business: Navigating Global Uncertainty in Business Strategy at the Denmark Architecture Center (DAC) on Friday, July 25th, at 9:30 a.m. Geopolitical uncertainty – whether from tariffs, regional insecurity, domestic political unrest, or outright conflict – has become one of the most challenging elements in today's business environment. In a recent survey of CEOs conducted by Deloitte, 72% of respondents indicated that they expected geopolitical instability to cause business disruption during 2025. While management scholars have long held an interest in understanding the impact of geopolitics, recent work has also begun to examine how organizations can mitigate and manage these uncertainties. Building on the last year's successful PDW on geopolitics, This year's workshop will explore how businesses can navigate these challenges and adapt their strategies to thrive in volatile international environments. Offering both theoretical insights and practical applications, the PDW will examine the evolving dynamics of geopolitics, focusing on their impact on business strategy, risk management, and global operations.
The workshop will feature keynote speeches by five leading scholars on geopolitics, including Yadong Luo (University of Miami), Jing Li (Simon Fraiser University), Douglas Fuller (Copenhagen Business School), Gerhard Schnyder (Loughborough University) and Klaus Meyer (Ivey Business School). Building on last year's format, we will have an extended interactive panel discussion between the participants and the audience, followed by small-group breakout sessions on topics related to geopolitics. You do not need to pre-register or submit proposals to take part, but do come early to get a good seat. Note also that this PDW will be taking place at the OFFSITE DAC.
See you in Copenhagen!

P.S.! If you're interested in this topic, make sure not to miss PDW 18893 "Corporate Nationalism in a Deglobalizing World: Research Agenda, Data, and Methodology" which takes place right afterwards, from 11:30 to 13:30, also at the DAC.
