    Conference on Evidence-Based Entrepreneurial Interventions

    Call for Submissions

    Deadline January 15, 2026

Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, New Orleans

    April 17 – April 18, 2026

We are pleased to announce a conference on Evidence-Based Entrepreneurial Interventions, generously sponsored by the Levy-Rosenblum Institute and the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. The conference will be held from the evening of Friday, April 17, through Saturday, April 18, 2026, on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Entrepreneurship research has made considerable strides in understanding the factors that drive entrepreneurial success, with extensive theoretical and empirical work on decision-making, emotions, motivation, resource mobilization, mentorship, financing, and institutional influences. However, effectively translating these insights into practical interventions remains a challenge, as their impact varies widely depending on design and context. Emerging studies show that well-designed interventions-such as personal initiative training, growth tools, and structured accelerators-can significantly enhance entrepreneurial outcomes. Moreover, such programs can contribute to broader societal goals like poverty reduction and inclusive development. Yet, unintended consequences-like reduced educational investment without increased business ownership-highlight the complexity of intervention impacts and the need for careful, context-sensitive approaches. To bridge the gap between theory and practice, this conference aims to explore when, how, and why entrepreneurial interventions succeed or fail, emphasizing the importance of intervention research in generating scalable solutions and real-world impact.

We are interested in cultivating an engaged community of like-minded scholars. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:

    ·       Effectiveness and impact of entrepreneurial interventions

    ·       Unintended consequences of entrepreneurial interventions

    ·       AI-Augmented entrepreneurial interventions

    ·       Success indicators and metrics (i.e., what might be reliable metrics for evaluation)

    ·       Meta-Analytic approaches to entrepreneurial interventions and impact

As a companion to this conference, we will also be editing a special issue of Journal of Business Venturing on the same topic. Submission and acceptance to this conference are not necessary to submit to the Special Issue. More information on the Special Issue can be found at: https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-of-business-venturing/about/call-for-papers.
