With the end of term around the corner, holidays of all sorts on their way, a New Year on the horizon… no doubt everyone has lots of last-minute plan and to-do lists to take care. A gentle reminder for your HCM to-do list….your submission for our Philadelphia conference is due January 13th. Daan Westra is organizing our PDWs and Emerging Scholar Consortium and Ingrid Nembhard is curating our scholarly program and both are looking forward to your submissions and welcome any questions from you. It's not too early to start thinking about nominees for our prestigious Annual HCM awards. This year, give the gift of an award nomination to a colleague who has made a difference in the work they do. We will be seeking nominees for many awards and I include the Committee Chairs if you would like nomination information or have questions:
- Early & Mid-Career Teaching awards - Chairs Seongwon Choi & Matthew DePuccio
- Early & Mid-Career Research achievement awards – Chair Daniel Walker
- The Fottler Exceptional Service award – Division Chair-Elect Amber Stephenson

A reminder to our HCM student scholars, for your conference submissions, ensure to self-select your student status for your nomination and consideration for these awards:
- Best Student Paper
- Outstanding paper based on a Dissertation
As you work your way through to the holiday break this year, I encourage you to plan for restful time for yourself, a wonderful time with your family, and, if you can, the gift of volunteer time to your community.
Thank you all for you dedication to our profession, thank you to our HCM Executive team for the gracious gift of your volunteer time, and to all, please enjoy your winter break.
Deirdre McCaughey - HCM Chair
2. Call for Submissions

The Health Care Management (HCM) Division welcomes you to submit your papers, symposia proposals, and posters for consideration for the 86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management to be held in Philadelphia, PA, USA, from 31 July to 4 August 2026.
The HCM Division invites submissions that align with its focus on advancing understanding of the role of professionals and organizations in providing health care across the globe. It is the Division that addresses all facets of management in the health and health care sector. Some of the topics explored within the Division include the experiences and performance of healthcare workers and organizations; health care finance and marketing; strategy and operational decision-making within the health care ecosystem; public policy issues (e.g., access to care, competition, cost control and quality of care); and comparisons of health systems across countries. The HCM Division invites submissions that address other topics and prides itself on empirical and conceptual application of theory to the study of healthcare organizations.
All submissions to the HCM Division must comply with AOM submission guidelines and formatting instructions, and be made through the AOM Submission Center. If any guidelines and formatting instructions are not met, the submission will not be reviewed. Please carefully review the guidelines as well as the Additional Instructions and Considerations noted below.
The Submission Center will open in early December 2025. The submission deadline is Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 17:00 (5 pm) EST (UTC-5 / GMT-5). Earlier submissions are encouraged. Division Reviewer: Please volunteer
We need your help! Our scholarly program is entirely dependent on the generous contributions of reviewers like you. Please help the division by signing up as an HCM Reviewer. We welcome you as a reviewer whether you are a new or long-standing AOM Annual Meeting attendee.
What’s in it for you? That’s easy! Reviewing…
- gives you an opportunity to be involved in the Academy's program planning process,
- is a way to learn about new and interesting work in your field,
- is an opportunity to add a line to your CV, and
- is an easy and much appreciated way to give back to your professional community.
You can sign up and access AOM Reviewer Guidelines for additional information. The 2026 review period is 22 January 2026 to 12 February 2026, so please plan accordingly.
When you sign up, you will be asked to select keywords/subject areas for each division or interest group you select. These are really important! Keywords will be used to assign papers and symposia that most closely match your interests and expertise. Select as many keywords as you can to ensure that the system is able to make the match.
The HCM Division looks forward to your participation in our program as scholarly contributor and reviewer!
Ingrid Nembhard - Program Chair
