Hi Everyone,
AOM's Annual Meeting in Copenhagen is only 164 days away. The meeting's location-in Denmark's picturesque, historic capital city-will not be the only novelty of this year's meeting.
The HCM Executive Committee (EC) has been hard at work for the past three months curating an innovative agenda that continues HCM's tradition of focusing on community building and professional development within the contexts of this particular meeting's unique time and space requirements.
In response to recent attendance trends, cost-driven considerations, and member feedback, the HCM EC will experiment this year with a considerable adjustment to our traditional schedule. The biggest change will be that the HCM Division's Provan Award Winner Keynote, Awards Ceremony, and Business Meeting, as well as the Division's principal social, will be held the evening of Saturday, July 26. This is a major change from our traditional Monday evening placement for these events, which had been attended by fewer individuals for the past two Annual Meetings. (Anecdotal data suggest this trend has principally been driven by higher travel costs; very few members can now attend the Annual Meeting for its entire Friday-to-Tuesday duration.) We hope this new Saturday time slot will allow the greatest number of HCM Division members to attend these key, community-building events. Furthermore, we expect this mid-meeting placement will allow HCM members to spend more time exploring the beautiful city and region in small groups (and to allow HCM officers to update our wardrobes to be Copenhagen-approved prior to the Saturday social).
We already have an array of other unique events lined up for Friday in Copenhagen, but we don't have official approval to share quite yet. More to come in the coming weeks.
Finally, as a reminder, don't forget to finish your paper submission reviews by this Thursday, February 13! (Thank you if you already completed yours!) If you missed the chance to serve as a reviewer, please consider signing up to be an emergency reviewer for HCM by emailing Amber Stephenson, astephen@clarkson.edu.
Thanks,
Nick
