HCM Colleagues,
The AOM HCM Division and its Teaching Committee invites you to join us for this year's HCM Teaching Incubator: Becoming More Effective Instructors (session 531)!
This year's HCM Teaching Incubator PDW will take place
in person only on Saturday, August 6th, from 6 to 7:30 PM (Pacific) in Room 607 of the Seattle Convention Center. As has been done previously, the PDW is divided into a collection of roundtable discussions devoted to different topics, with Teaching Mentors and participants discussing questions, advice, and issues of interest around specific themes. For those who would value feedback, advice, reflection, or help with teaching – whether you're a first-time instructor or a seasoned teacher wrestling with specific questions or ideas – this PDW will be of particular interest, offering helpful conversations on issues confronted in a range of educational settings by healthcare management educators.
This year's discussion topics include:
- Acknowledging students and stress;
- Connecting the classroom to the field;
- Developing or revising a course;
- How to develop and grow as a teacher;
- Navigating politicized and politically infused topics;
- Teaching Executive & PhD students;
- Teaching online and hybrid formats; and,
- Towards more diverse, equitable, and inclusive teaching.
We're grateful for this year's esteemed Teaching Mentors, who include
@Nancy Borkowski,
@Cathleen Erwin,
@Laura McClelland,
@Nir Menachemi,
@Stephen O'Connor,
@Victoria Parker,
@Nitish Patidar, Geoffrey Silvera, and
