Dear AOM HCM Colleagues,
I am pleased to bring to your attention the International Conference on Outcomes Measurement (ICOM). ICOM participants are researchers interested in IRT and Rasch applications to measurement. A large percentage of participants work in the health and social services sector. There hasn't been an ICOM since 2001, so there should be a lot of new information to share, especially in light of the NIH Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) cooperative recently completing validation of its initial CAT battery.
ICOM-2008 is being sponsored by the <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Illinois</st1:placename> at Chicago, The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">US</st1:country-region></st1:place> National Institutes of Health, and the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Science Research. The meeting will be held September 11-13 in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Bethesda</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">Maryland</st1:state> <st1:country-region w:st="on">USA</st1:country-region></st1:place>. There will be three days of workshops on IRT/Rasch measurement theory and applications September 9, 10, and 13.
The call for papers deadline is June 6th. Links to online registration for both ICOM and the ICOM workshops is available by clicking the icon below.
Looking forward to seeing you at ICOM 2008,

| Implementation research identifies optimal approaches, strategies, and procedures to adopt and integrate evidence-based interventions into every-day clinical practices. Studies examine changes in both therapeutic and business practice patterns within various types of healthcare settings and systems. | Organizational & Management research identifies strategies for changing the attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, and commonly-held practices of all organizational incumbents that enable healthcare to be delivered faster, better, and cheaper with increased levels of satisfaction among both patients and providers. |
