We are looking for co-contributors for two potential SIOP proposals focusing on healthcare, described briefly below. If you are interested in one of these sessions, please e-mail Lauren Benishek (lbenishe@ist.ucf.edu) with a description of your potential contribution. We request receipt of potential contributions by September 5th to afford adequate time for revisions by the final SIOP proposal deadline of September 12.

Symposium 1 is seeking papers that present approaches for improving patient safety in healthcare. Patient safety is of critical concern to healthcare providers, who are constantly searching for innovative ways to improve safety in their facilities. This symposium aims to present practical patient safety interventions and solutions from a variety of perspectives. For example, one paper in this session presents an approach for reducing patient falls in critical access hospitals. Other presentations may present approaches addressing other aspects of patient safety.

Symposium 2 is seeking papers that present works addressing team training in healthcare. Within the last decade, interest in team training has burgeoned in the healthcare industry. Focus has shifted from individual provider performance to team functionality within clinical contexts. This symposium aims to present state-of-the-science thinking about team training for the healthcare industry. Presentations are encouraged to discuss conceptual as well as practical concerns regarding clinical team training.

Thank you in advance for your interest and time,

Lauren Benishek (lbenishe@ist.ucf.edu) & Debbie DiazGranados, PhD (diazgranados@vcu.edu)
