    Hello,

A former MBA student of mine from my organizational behavior class has
asked me to recommend books on the doctor - hospital relationship. I
believe that she is interested in how the formal and informal agreements
between physicians and hospitals have changed over time. Any
    recommendations? Thank you in advance.

Depending on how far you want to go back- I think the best one is Starr's
The Social Transformation of American Medicine. It goes from the founding of
the country to the early 1980s.

Another one is by W. Richard Scott (an a bit more contemporary)

Institutional Change and Healthcare Organizations : From Professional
    Dominance to Managed Care
by W. Richard Scott, et al (Paperback - May 1, 2000)
