Position Description:
Founded in 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is a private, independent institution committed to the advancement of health. The College has academic programs and research activities spanning the full spectrum of pharmacy and health sciences from drug discovery to patient care. Students pursue a wide range of career pathways in health related fields through undergraduate and graduate programs in pharmacy, biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences, laboratory diagnostics, biotechnology and health outcomes research. The College also offers a joint Pharm.D./MBA degree program in collaboration with Union Graduate College. More than 1,600 students are enrolled at the College's main campus located in the heart of the Capital District in Albany, New York, and approximately 200 students are enrolled at a satellite campus in Colchester, Vermont.
Position
ACPHS invites applications for the position of Department Chair of a newly established Department of Healthcare Management and Informatics. The candidate will lead a cadre of faculty with background in health and administrative sciences with teaching responsibilities in undergraduate programs in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, health sciences and a graduate program in health outcomes research. Candidates are expected to establish a successful research program in a related field and collaborate in multi-disciplinary research teams. Collaborative research opportunities are available within the College, Capital Region institutions, as well as institutions throughout Upstate New York. Academic or industrial experience to merit an initial academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure is required.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate and post-doctorate experience is required; previous administrative experience preferred. Qualified candidates will have expertise in health care management, evidence-based health practice, health/medical informatics and/or related discipline. Prior experience in graduate education with a demonstrated record of research accomplishment based on publications, national recognition, and extramural funding is required.
