Apologies for Cross-Postings Please join us on Friday morning, August 12 from 8am to 10am in the San Antonio Convention Center Room 007C for a Professional Development Workshop entitled "The Qualitative Process and the Quantitative Tool: How Do You Improve Technology Change Success?" Participant: Dr. Beverly Magda, Georgetown University Participant: Dr. Victoria Grady, George Washington University Abstract-- The volatility associated with technology change often challenges the foundation principles of leadership, management, and employees. In addition, the change implementation process inherently leads to instability first within the individual and then collectively within the organization. Integrate the unique cultural nuisances of multinational organizations--- the successful technological change process becomes a daunting task to the most experienced change management consultant. Unaddressed, these factors undoubtedly contribute to the organizational change failure rate that continues to approach 70% (Standish, 2009). The emerging organization is challenged with the task of embracing technology transformation efforts while maintaining a tight critical path---on time and within budget---to stay competitive in today's complex global and economic climate. Can a Quantitative Tool enhance the Qualitative Process? This workshop will introduce the LOE Index (Grady, et al, 2009) as the quantitative diagnostic tool to define the unique qualitative process customized for each organization and demonstrate mitigation techniques for overcoming the symptoms associated with change in the organization (Grady and Magda, 2010). The qualitative process consists of a customized formula of leadership, communication, end user involvement and education based on the quantitative data provided by the LOE Index at the baseline and intermittent intervals with extreme efficiency and reliability. "At a time of volatility and uncertainty, the world is looking for new sources of growth and alternative business models." (AoM Theme 2011) The workshop presents a unique organizational change model that integrates a qualitative process and a quantitative tool to create a customized technology change process. |
