Jossey-Bass, an imprint of John Wiley & Sons, is giving serious consideration to a proposal for a new textbook on Human Diseases and Health Literacy: Research Into Practice. The book's purpose is to prepare undergraduate students in chronic disease prevention, risk reduction, and disease management with culturally, linguistically and socio-economically diverse populations. The proposed textbook prepares undergraduate students to work with patients who have low health literacy and lack patient navigation skills.
The book's primary intended audiences are third-year and fourth-year undergraduate students in Health Education, Community or Public Health, Health Promotion, Medical Social Work, Human Services, Health Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Nursing.
The project's secondary intended audiences are students enrolled in two year Associate in Applied Science Degree programs such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health/Human Services, Nursing, or Rehabilitation Services.
We would like to have the proposal reviewed by individuals who teach in the above disciplines and would be willing to share thoughts and comments on the proposed work. For more information, please write directly to publichealth@wiley.com.
