    The following Professional Development Workshop sessions are open to all
    participants in next month's meeting in Boston. All are at the Marriott Copley.

    Friday, August 3rd

    3 pm (Salon D): US Federal Funding for Engaged Scholarship Participant –
    featuring program officers from AHRQ, NIH, and NSF, as well as scholars who
    have secured federal funding for organizational research

    Saturday, August 4th

    9:15 am (Salon C): Developing Rubrics in a Yummy and Interactive Session
    with Susan Lawler. Featuring freshly baked cookies and samples of a
    technique shown to improve feedback to students, make grading easier, and
    inform course improvement. Pre-registration for this session is required by
    August 1st at https://secure.aomonline.org/PDWReg.

    10:15 am (Salon D): Quantitative and Qualitative Methods in Health Services
    Research – with presentations by Keith Provan (network analysis), Sandra
    Buttigieg (multi-level modeling), Trish Reay (qualitative research using
    interview data), and Margarete Arndt and Barbara Bigelow (qualitative
    research using document analysis).

    12:15 pm (Boylston): Writing a Strong Paper – with presentations by
    Jacqueline Zinn, Mattia Gilmartin, Keith Provan, and Ingrid Nembhard, and
    editors representing Health Services Research, Health Care Management
    Review, Journal of Healthcare Management, Advances in Health Care
    Management, and the Journal of Health Administration Education.

    12:30 pm (Tremont): Simulation as a Disruptive Teaching Innovation – with a
    group simulation led by Jenny Rudolph as well as time for participants to
    reflect on applications to their own classes.

    2:30 pm (Salon K): Follow Your Bliss – reflections by Barbara Bigelow,
    Leonard Friedman, and Kathleen Montgomery on how to create a personally
    fulfilling career in health care management scholarship.

    Then walk a few blocks over to Kings Back Bay Bowling Alley (50 Dalton
    Street) for the HCMD social from 5 – 7 pm. Members and friends welcome.
    Casual attire suggested. It really is a bowling alley.
