The Health Services Administration (HADM) program at Auburn University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 2017. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in health administration, public health, or a closely related discipline by the start date, and present a strong indication of future research productivity in appropriate scholarly outlets.

The program seeks someone with teaching and scholarly interests that complement those of the current faculty. Areas of particular need for course coverage include one or more of following: Healthcare data analytics, health information systems, quality management, and the ability to teach across the health care services administration curriculum (e.g. health insurance, strategic management, long term care etc.). Successful candidates will have a broad knowledge of healthcare management.

HADM Search committee co-chair Cathleen Erwin and faculty member Geoffrey Silvera will be in attendance at the Academy of Management annual meeting in Anaheim and will be happy to meet with anyone interested in learning more about the position, program or University. Both faculty members will be involved in various Health Care Management Division sessions – including the Emerging Scholars Consortium on Friday, August 5. Review of applicants will begin on August 31, 2016.

Review of applications will begin August 31, 2016, and will continue until a suitable candidate has been selected. To apply, please visit https://aufacultypositions.peopleadmin.com/. Candidates are required to submit a cover letter outlining their qualifications for the position, a current curriculum vita, contact information for three letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations (if available), and an official transcript of all graduate work.

The individual selected will teach courses to full-time undergraduate students and will also be expected to engage in scholarly activity. Although extramural funding for research is not a contractual requirement, extramural grant funding experience is desired. This position offers significant faculty development opportunities through internal and external grant funding opportunities and Auburn's Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. In addition to teaching and research, the successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to academic program development, and service within the University, the profession, and community. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

The HADM program serves approximately 150 undergraduate students. The more than ninety percent placement rate of its students in either administrative positions or graduate school is a testament to both the dedication of program faculty and the quality of its students. The B.S. program in Health Services Administration has been accredited by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration since 1995. The program is devoted to academic distinction in research, teaching, and service, and focuses on a culture of student and faculty engagement, bridging theory with practice to extend scholarship and learning beyond the classroom. The program is housed in the Department of Political Science within the College of Liberal Arts.
