    Hello colleagues:

We wanted to make you aware of a Professional Development Workshop for this year's Academy of Management meeting, sponsored by the Health Care Management Division, in cooperation with several other AOM divisions:

Navigating the "Revise and Resubmit" Process:  An Author's Survival Guide

This PDW is aimed at doctoral students and junior faculty interested in gaining more hands-on experience preparing revisions of their papers for peer-reviewed journals, particularly those in the health care space. The greater emphasis placed by journals and journal editors on the "revise and resubmit" process at present means that most authors find themselves preparing at least one, and sometimes two or three revisions of their paper to make it suitable for publication. The revision process often remains a "black box" for many authors, with often fewer specifics or best practices conveyed to them for how best to approach a given paper revision. Yet, there are indeed common best practices and things "not to do" that can be identified regardless of the particular journal or type of paper. This workshop is intended to convey some of these best practices and things not to do through engaged discussion and a small group, workshop-like experience. The four presenters will share some of their specific experiences in the revise and resubmission process by working with small groups in the PDW, using examples from their own journal editor and author experiences. The workshop will conclude with an extended question and answer session in which participants can ask specific questions of the panel related to current revised papers they may be working on for resubmission.

It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Saturday August 11, from 6:15-7:45 pm, in Room Columbus AB.  No pre-registration or advance preparation is required.  It will be conducted in a workshop-like format where several examples from the presenter's experiences are used to help identify and learn about R and R best practices.  Please come and gain insights from established editors and authors, and gain best practices for working on your own journal paper revisions.
