Hi HCMD colleagues – terrific seeing many of you in Orlando earlier this week.  Our Health Systems Management department has four newly funded fellowships that may be of interest to PhD students / early careerists in particular. Three of these will work with my colleague Tricia Johnson (who is fantastic to work with); the one at MXC will be working with myself and Ebbin Dotson (who is also wonderful).  More info is available below.

Thanks for helping me spread the word!

We are pleased to announce the availability of four outstanding fellowship opportunities to develop your skills as a researcher and change agent at the forefront of the healthcare transformation.  These mentored fellowships will involve development and evaluation of new ways to educate and deploy community-based providers, and evaluation of the new models of care in which they will be working. A primary goal of the fellowship program is to develop a cadre of well-trained health care researchers with a passion for creating sustainable ways for providing access to high-quality care for individuals in underserved communities, with a particular focus on improving health in the communities that we serve. The fellows will embody our teacher-practitioner model by being involved in program development and implementation as well as evaluation and dissemination.

Three fellows will be based at Rush and will be involved in projects that relate to the development, implementation and evaluation of new models of care, continuing education and/or curriculum development for community-based providers. These fellows will be mentored by faculty in the College of Health Sciences, College of Nursing and Department of Preventive Medicine. In addition, one fellow will be based at Malcolm X College (MXC) and will work with MXC and Rush faculty to develop, implement and evaluate new curriculum streams that address the allied health workforce needs in underserved communities.

A detailed job description for the Health Disparities Fellowship is attached, and information is also available on Rush's website under Job Number 2013-1193. Underrepresented minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

For more information about these positions, please contact Tricia Johnson at (312) 942-7107 or tricia_j_johnson@rush.edu.
